A shoe-in

Spring approaches, so I'll be stocking up on city flats, and these amazing designer inspired smoking slippers are a shoe-in (pun intended). As the frugal fashionista that I am, it is my duty to share my nearly incredible fashion finds. While I'm well aware that there is a fine line between "designer inspired" fashion and a knock off, I like to think that as long as the product doesn't bear the name of the original, trying to pretend to be a designer brand, I'll call it "inspired" and I'm able to sleep like a baby at night. Check out these shoes, compare and tell me what you think. Is this borderline wrong or would you rock these awesome flats without a guilty conscience?

Closet Clean-out

I know, it's hard to part with that dress or those slacks that you've had forever, but if they're old, weathered or just don't fit you right, you have to get rid of them! I'm gonna share with you a few tricks to clean out your closet the right way.
When I moved from Puerto Rico to San Antonio nearly 5 months ago, I had to decide what I immediately needed and what I was going to pack for the movers to take away. So, I made 3 piles: 1. Keep 2. Donate 3. Throw away. Each pile included clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry. I gave away so many things, mostly from past styles, and/or that were ill-fitting at that point. Even after donating and getting rid of over 3 Hefty bags full of stuff, I had brought a large suitcase full of clothes and the movers had delivered 2 huge boxes of clothes, one of shoes and another with handbags.
So today, I went out for a home goods shopping and, I almost bought more clothes hangers. It dawned on me that I still have about 5-10 pieces of clothing and shoes that still have tags on them and even more that I've only worn once. Of course, my closet is too full! So I decided, that for each new item that I buy, I'm getting rid of something that is old. Another neat trick you can try is every time you use an article of clothing, turn the hanger around. Look back into your closet 1 year after you start and get rid of every item that you haven't worn in that year. If it's in good condition, you can either donate it, sell it at a Thrift store, or sell it online like on Ebay.
I recently discovered Threadflip, an online flip store in which you can sell and buy clothes, jewelry, shoes, and handbags from fellow fashionistas (Men and Women). The product has to be in excellent condition and it is regulated, tagged and sold buy them for you. They send you the prepaid bags to send over your items for them to revise, price, take pictures and post. After selling the item, you get a check from them for 60% of the earnings from the sale. I just picked out the stuff I'll be selling with Threadflip and I'm so excited to know that someone else will love those pieces as much as I have!

Hope these tips help in your Spring Cleaning!

In search of Sun...glasses

With my impending trip to the tropics at the end of Spring, I'm on the hunt of eye popping Sunglasses. I've searched high and low, and with so many fantastic options this season, I've narrowed it down to 2 styles, Mirrored and Cat-eye. Now I just have to make a choice, or two...

Grammy Awards 2013

Regardless of my profound disappointment in the Grammy wins for Best Dance/Electronica Record and Album (Really? Skrillex' noise was better that Swedish House Mafia, DeadMau5 and Kaskade??), I was not disappointed, however, by the red carpet. Since the Grammy Council mandated and "kindly" advised artists to dress appropriately and avoid showing parts of their bodies that are best left for intimate moments, they went full on Glam.

I Heart Prabal

The wait is over! The amazing new collection from Prabal Gurung for Target is here! He named the collection Love, of course, and I'm absolutely loving it! The pieces are of excellent quality, the colors for Spring are absolutely perfect and the shapes for the clothing pieces are very flattering. Of course, I went in right away to test the product, lol. Every dress I tried on fit perfectly and I just wanted to take it all home with me. But something stopped me... I only bought one piece, I chose the Mesh Sleeved blouse just because I know that I'll be able to mix and match it with skirts and slacks, so many outfits will fit perfectly with it. I was a bit disappointed to learn that the jewelry and some of the best pieces weren't available in store. I ordered the ruffled Red dress online (I tried on the Chartreuse one and it was gorgeous, but I need the red on for a Go Red for Women fundraising event). Something else stopped me in my tracks from buying everything in the collection, the fact that the Neiman Marcus collection didn't sell very well and 3 weeks later EVERYTHING was 50% off. Not that these prices are high, by any means. But I just can't stand the fact that I pay full price for something that'll be sale soon. Sorry, I am THE bargain shopper. Some pieces I'll be looking to buy later on, whether they're on sale or not. We'll see how that goes...
Here's how I styled my blouse!

A time to coat

So yesterday was Groundhog Day and Phil the Groundhog predicted an early Spring for 2013! Now, before  we get all excited to bring out the sundresses and gladiator sandals, let's talk about the season's best kept secret. Winter Sale!! There's a sale going on right now, everywhere, in-store and online. It's time for stores to clean out the winter gear to make room for Spring merchandise, and we get to reap all the benefits. I spotted an amazing coat at Asos, so naturally I had to order it. It's already kind of warm in Texas so I'm putting it away in a garment bag with a scented hanger pendant. If it's still cold where you live, you'll get to rock a new coat for the next few weeks. Next year, you'll be ready!
