State Capitol

As part of our little vacation, we visited Austin, TX. I'd been there before but we hadn't seen the Capitol and the Downtown are during the day. Austin is vibrant, hip and full of life! The day was lovely, not too warm and definitely not cold. I wore a crochet top I found in the Market in Charleston, SC a few months ago. Note to self, always wear socks with boots, ouch!

Remember the Alamo

I've been living in San Antonio for 1 year now, and I visited The Alamo for the first time now that my friends are in town. It's absolutely breathtaking! So full of history and so beautiful, it was a wonderful experience. The weather here in Texas is still pretty warm, so I opted to wear shorts with my favorite Gladiator sandals. The upcoming weeks will have colder weather so this may be the last chance I have to wear them. As a transitional piece I brought out a flannel shirt I've had for like 2 years now and wrapped it around my waist. I'll very likely be wearing it again as the Fall season brings in the chilly weather. For all my island girls, this is the kind of outfit I would wear in the Fall when I lived in Puerto Rico. I loved keeping up with seasonal trends, but had to accommodate to the reality of a year round warm weather.

My Fall season started off with a visit from my future Mother-in-Law and some friends from Puerto Rico. This week will be jam packed with fun activities and plenty of tourism around San Antonio and Austin. We went to the Jalapeño Festival last Saturday in the Historic Market Square (El Mercado) in downtown San Antonio. We had great food, saw tons of Mexican art and danced away the afternoon. I dressed very casual in my fave colored jeans and wedge sneakers. Of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to break in my 3.1 Philip Lim for Target bag, tee-hee!
