Oscars 2015: The Look for Less

So much beauty, talent and intelligence was displayed on the Red Carpet for the Oscars this year. I am 100% for asking these beautiful ladies more than just "Who are you wearing?" They definitely have so much insight into society, philosophy, and psychology, among other topics. The research that they do to portray their roles is indicative that these ladies are multi-talented and highly intelligent and definitely deserving of the nominations and awards they've won. They are real women and they have an influence on all of us in the world who follow them.
With that said, I wanted to show that just as they are admirable for their work, we can admire them for their incredible sense of style. I love to find styles that are affordable and attainable for us gals who don't have thousands of dollars to spend on a dress. I was able to find some similar styles, but I also found a site that makes exact replicas of Red Carpet dresses at a very low fraction of the cost. I'll share these styles with you for next Gala event.

Last night, Fashion Group International - San Antonio hosted an event to present the Ready to Wear Collections for Spring 2015. The actual runway shows were held in New York, London, Paris and Milan during their respective Fashion Week presentations in Fall 2014. We had the opportunity to view a DVD of all the collections, with commentary by Marylou Luther, editor of the International Fashion Syndicate and Creative Director of The Fashion Group International. We also had a special presentation of the Spring '15 Collection by Angelina Mata, designer for Angelina Mata Atelier and FGI-SA Board member. We, then had open Q&A with a panel of Fashion/Design/Beauty experts moderated by the fabulous Burgundy Woods of Style Lush TV. It was a wonderful evening of style, at a very cool location filled great food and wine provided by Tim the Girl, and gorgeous spring trends to look forward to.

The weather is till crazy this Winter in Texas! Last weekend it was warm and today it was 35!! I can't really complain because the weekend was absolutely gorgeous. This intermediate weather is the perfect opportunity to bring out your Spring clothes but apply to Fall-like weather. I wore this pleated ombré Maxi skirt with a Denim top and heels. Usually in Texas, girls would wear this type of look with boots, but I wanted to dress it up with Blush heels. The heels actually match the bottom of the skirt and since I'm short, this works for me because it creates the illusion of long legs under the skirt.

Neiman Marcus Spring 2015

The Neiman Marcus Spring 2015 preview runway show was full of surprises. The underlying theme was based off of local artist Lucy Peveto. Her spring collection theme was butterflies and her artwork was set up around the event area. The music was pumping, the champagne and signature cocktail drinks were flowing and an array of fabulous people were socializing and having a great time. The fashion show was divided in themes as well, with Lucy's piece de resistance as a backdrop. Each segment had pieces from different designers that we can find for sale at the store: Bohemian Soiree, Spice Market Colors, Mix & Match Patterns, Monochromatic White and Enchanted Evening. I loved it all, but my absolute favorites were the all white looks and the evening gowns.
