Distressed Jeans

I was recently contacted by fellow blogger, Christina Coker of Champagne Taste, Beer Budget to participate in a segment for SA Live! at Neiman Marcus as a model. I thought "Me? A model??" She said, of course YOU! So, I went for it and it was one of the funnest experiences I've ever had! I got to pick out the clothes styled around a pair of Rag & Bone Dre Distressed Boyfriend jeans. I chose the Daria Loose Layered-Hem Tee by the same brand in soft pink. I felt that the soft look of the tee complemented the jeans very well. At first, they were going for an edgy, street style look and they brought me several shoe options, among them slip on sneakers and several heels. When they brought out a pair of Valentino Rock Stud heels in Blue, my heart skipped a beat! I had to wear them, they were perfect! It was the perfect pop of color for Spring, and the best combo of femme meets rocker chic. I couldn't stop dancing around in them! Then we chose the jewelry. Christina and I were really feeling  the natural stone. It was hard to choose, so we went for the layered look with necklaces by Panacea from the Contemporary section, CUSP. The entire time, I felt like a kid in a candy store! Plus, I was a total ham in front of the camera. It was great!

Modelo?"Ella me dijo, "Si, TU!"

The Curly Cut

It's time to get that Spring hair makeover! I was way overdo for a cut! With curly hair like mine, it's so important to constantly cut and shape your hair to keep it bouncy and healthy. Finding a hairdresser for curls can be a daunting experience. I had gotten a few cuts when I moved to San Antonio, but it wasn't really up to par. In Puerto Rico, my hairdresser was a curly hair specialist (Irene from Wanda Montes) and my hair was exactly how I wanted it for years. I trusted her to the point where I just said "Do whatever you want" and loved it each time I stepped out, but I hadn't found that since I moved to Texas. Until now. I did my research, of course. I Googled "Natural curls hair salon in San Antonio" and found about 3. I always go by reviews and recommendations, so I found Harmoni Salon on Loop 410 and saw that it had tons of rave reviews. I booked my appointment and it was so full I had to book for a week in advance (that's always a good sign). They called me immediately after booking online and asked me a few questions about my hair and sent me to a web site to identify my curl type so they know what they would be working with. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of professionalism. The day of my appointment arrived. I've never been so excited to wake up at 7 am on a Saturday! My hairdresser was awesome! I showed her a pic of my hair inspo and she got to work right away. She knew exactly what she was doing and gave me recommendations on types of products I should use and the ones I need to stay away from. She also told me about things she could do in future visits. I was so impressed!

While searching for my ideal look, several of the hottest Spring 2015 hair trends served as inspiration. For curly hair, I was really into the shaping around the face.

There's also the curly bangs, but I started off slowly, maybe I'll work my way up to a full bang.

My inspiration for summer, if I can summon the courage to go way shorter.

When it comes to color, I've kept it at a Golden Brown (Garnier Nutrisse B3). Naturally, you want to go lighter for Spring/Summer. My hair tends to go red, so I'll probably get honey highlights, that will compliment my hair really well.

If you're considering these options for your Spring/Summer hair, my recommendation is to do your research. Don't be afraid to approach someone that you see on the street and ask them where they got there hair done. Read those reviews and take a picture of your inspo look with you to the salon, so they can get as close to that as possible. Be bold and have fun with it!

That 70's Vibe: Summer Edition

Happy Friday, my lovely Lotus Flowers! I'm so excited for the weekend! This week has been a doozy for me, and I really need to relax and unwind. This weekend look is one for the books! First of all, I got a haircut, and I'm really loving the framing around my face. I haven't had a really good cut in a very long time. My hair is healthy, bouncy and just love the style! I'm totally inspired by the 70's comeback that's happening this Spring. When I found these polka dot high-waisted palazzo pants at Marshall's, I found myself on, yet, another mission. I needed the perfect top. I located this light pink top in The Cube and it went perfectly with the shade in the dots. This outfit is perfect to take from day to night. At the office, you can pair it with a blazer or a cardigan, then lose it for cocktails and dancing!
Check out this outfit on my next episode of Fashion Round Up for Style Lush TV.
